Task 6 - Evaluation

Intro
Unit 66 was a time consuming unit since it consisted of both written and practical tasks for modelling and quite a few of them and before i even got onto them i had to proceed through a whole lot of vudeo tutorials to learn what the software is about. for HA6 i had to use what i had designed in my previous unit to create models for my 3D game and present them in a respectable manor

Task 1
Task 1 was the simplest and didn’t take me very long whatsoever. This task only involved me republishing my research from my other unit, I did this so that I made sure that I could keep an eye on it when I was doing it for task 3 and 4. When I designed them on task 3 and made them on task 4 it became a lot easier since I had a lot of work to reference during that phase of work.

Task 2
Task 2 without a doubt was the easiest but the hardest to do at the same time. Doing task 2 involved me making a schedule which was incredibly simple and easy to do but keeping to the schedule was quite difficult instead I had to change my schedule to complete for my work.

Task 3
Task 3 was simple but time consuming, it involved me designing what I would later create. I did it on a gridded sheet that I got off of Moodle and the grids on the sheet were what I was trying to use to measure what I would create, in my opinion I totally failed to do this because I did not check how big something was from the side in conjunction with the front.

Task 4
Task 4 took a while for me to complete and gave me a few problems since I had to choose how I would design and model my creations. The watch was easy for me but the helmet gave me problems with faces that was glitching it out so I had to scrap what I was originally doing and for the gun it was quite time consuming since the most detail went into it.

Task 5
For task 5 I started out my taking multiple renders of my projects that I would later then put them together on Photoshop, i needed to cut away the background for my designs and then have them compiled them neatly so they looked good as a poster representing my game. i am pleased with the outcome of it since i believe that if i client were to see what i have done with them then it woukld get there seal of approval.

Conclusion
Just like with every task my time which i spent doing it was a problem since i need to focus more often but from now on i have started to focus more on my assignments and taken matters into my own hands because this was i can mold my future just like i have molded these models. i don't want to be one of those peope who blames others for there short coming and this long assignment has made me realise this. in conclusion this was a time consuming yet not so difficult task that has made me realise my shortcomings which i am grateful for and which to further improve in the future.

Task 6 - Evaluation
Write an evaluation of your project. Use your plan, production log and blog posts to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your design process. Try to establish whether or not your finished product has achieved the aim of the project. Take into consideration anything said by interested parties.
Remember that you are trying to create 3D models to a technical quality that reflects near-professional standards following industry practice, showing creativity and flair and working independently to professional expectations.

Task 5 - Presentation

This is my gun, i did it from a few angles because it looks quite different depending on how you look at it. it is probably by greatest work that i did for my 3D work

this is my communication device an helmet, i only id two pictures for this because it is quite a simple design. the first picture shows the design with a light from over head while the bottom shot shows he light underneath so that you can see the neck of the suit

Finally i made my watch which is also very simple but i do enjoy it. i took a few shots that were quite similar for this one and one from the front to show off what the screen and strap looked like

Finally i compiled some of my rendered images into a poser. this included my Gun, My Watch (Scientific Toolkit) and Helmet (Communication Device). i compiled these by using Photoshop and illustrator. i used Photoshop to take the images that i needed to used the magic wand tool to get rid of the background of the tools and because of how similar the colour of the background was with my models i had to change the tolerance to 1. i did this for all of them and then compiled them together, i gave it  a coloured background to make them stand out and gave it a title. i just chose to use "Curse of the stars" which is the same name as my space game for my 2D game and to give it a professional feel i then added my logo "A Fools Production" to finish off my work.

Task 5 - Presentation
Shoot a range of virtual photographs of your assets and render them out as high resolution Jpegs. Combine these images into a poster montage ready for submission to the client. Ensure that it is labelled carefully. Share your completed work to gain feedback.

Task 4 - Production

Task 4 - Production
You will draw together the skills you have developed in carrying out the Blender tutorials and follow your design pack to build and surface your assets in 3D. Remember to assign surfaces to your character as you create each element. Ensure that you save your work by date and incrementally. Record this whole process in a production log.
Remember to review your progress against your plan regularly and update as necessary. Annotated screenshots will be a useful form of evidence for your production log; showing the development of your character and working process.

Task 3 – Design Pack

Communication Device/Helmet
Front
my helmet is a simple design on the front of the design it has glass which the player Daisy will be looking out of, if i had it my way i would change the games screen so while she is wearing this then it would look like you are looking out of the glass itself (of course that would only be if she was in first person mode but if it was third person then that would be unnecessary).
 Side
on the side you are able to see the head piece a bit more clearly which goes onto the screen this is a apart of the helmet and what makes it a communication device.
 Back
there is nothing too important on the back but there is pipes of some sort that connect to Daisy's suit (seen below) that allow her oxygen supply.
Laser Gun
Front
you are not able to see much using the front of the gun, the most you are able to see is the end where the gun shoots, the sight quite visibly and what the energy bar looks like bulged out.
 Side
i struggled creating the same design that i had earlier on paper while using illustrator. on this design you are able to see the simple design of the handle. the energy bar on the gun as well as the sight and end where the lasers will come out of.
 Back
you cant see anything different with the back of the gun the only difference with the front is that you cant see the end and the energy bar is on the opposite side.
Scientific Toolkit/Hi-Tech Watch
Front
the watch which also functions as a scientific toolkit is probably a key game mechanic because this shows your health, ammo, and also serves as a way to change weapons/ use tools because my inspiration for this is 007 where you change equipment with a watch so i thought you would be able to materialise things with your watch.
 Side
from the side you are able to see the screen but the only major difference is the fact that you can see the strap more clearly.
 Back
there is nothing important about the back as you can only see the strap.
Daisy Isidore
Front
this is the suit that i have designed for Daisy as you can tell the helmet's front view is on top of the design which connects to the body. the suit is a unusual design with pieces bulging out which would allow for the suit to be bulky and strong yet flexible at the same time. the markings on the suit include the ships/crews icon on the waist and the crew members number on the chest (in the case of Daisy that number is 6) the suit also has green arrows on the legs there is no particular reason for this, its mostly for aesthetic but i also thought it could be used to run power around the suit.
Side
From the side you are able to see the arrow markings that are on the arms of the suit but apart from that the only difference is the fact that you can see the oxygen supply which contains a box on the back that stores the oxygen and the tubes (mentioned above) that supply it to the helmet.
 Back
from the back the only clear difference from the front is the fact that there are no markings and the fact that you can see what the oxygen supply looks like more clearly with the fact that you can see the shape that i have envisioned and where they connect with the helmet.

Task 3 – Design Pack
Produce a design pack that explains what each asset will look like. You will need to produce clear, scaled sketches or photomontages of your character’s equipment from the top, front, back, bottom and side (where relevant).

Shoot any additional reference imagery and textures, make measurements and draw diagrams to provide you with the information you need to model your assets. Your design pack will evolve as the modelling develops. Remember that the three assets you are going to model represent the minimum required. These will then feature within your 3D environment being created for your Unit 70 Game Engines assignment.

Check your work carefully, complete and sign the legal and ethical checklist.

Remember that you are trying to generate thoroughly thought through ideas for 3D models showing creativity and flair and working independently to professional expectations.

Task 2 – Schedule

Task 2 – Schedule
Read the assignment carefully and reflect on your Blender work to date and the skills acquired in using traditional drawing techniques, photography, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Make sure that the Blender tutorials have been completed and uploaded to your blog to act as reference material. Create a schedule for the assignment. This is where you break down the tasks within the project from start to finish and put in some milestones. This document will need to be reviewed and updated at least once per week.

Task 1 – Reference Research

I had chosen Daisy Isidore in m,y previous assignment and chose to do a hand held weapon with a holster to go with it, a communication device and a scientific tool kit. what i collected for my research in Unit 69 was this

i got these from the internet, i used different research that i obtained came from animated cartoons such as futurama, shows such as doctor who and start trek, games such as James bond 007 as well as anime which is one of my favorite things to show Haikyuu and dragon ball z. some of these were no longer needed as i was narrowing down what i wanted my designs to look like but some became useful.

Next ill show my first drafts for what i created

i designed the scene, the weapon, the gadgets and character before going on to my final illustration

Reflect on the work you have produced for your Unit 69 assignment, HA5 Character Design Pack, focussing on the equipment you designed for your chosen character. Republish all of your existing work.

Character 01 – Jonathyn Bearswick
Equipment 01 -
Sword and belt, pistol and playing cards.

Character 02 – Daisy Isidore
Equipment 02 -
Hand-held weapon and carrier, communication device and scientific toolkit.

Character 03 – Mitchell ‘Mitch’ Deforest
Equipment 03 -
Revolver and holster, cigarettes and Zippo lighter.

Remember that the visual research that you carry out here will assist you in the creation of your illustrations. The more reference material you have, the easier it will be to visualise your concept. Publish all of the information to your blog, citing all sources.
